Backstory

My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in the fall of 2008. It was caught early. Aggressive bilateral mastectomy was the choice. My concern was the lack of a cohesive focus to find a cure. I wanted a definitive course, I wanted strong leadership, I wanted to know the solution. So, I did what any normally crazy supportive co-survivor would do... enlisted for an ironman. The bike joins the effort

I have commited the bike to the cause. This is what we will call the before-photograph. The bike will be getting a make-over for the event. The make-over is going to involve everyone listening. If you post the name of a loved one (wife, mom, daughter, sister, niece, aunt, grandmother, ... you get the idea.) their name will be applied to the bicycle. These can be last names, first names, complete names, initials. You make the post, and I will apply. The goal being to have the bike, wheels, etc.. covered for the event. If we exceed those expectations, I have other ideas.

The color scheme is planned for pink and white, though suggestions are welcome.

Obviously, anything that you can commit to the fundraising effort via the link would be appreciated. The link goes straight to the Ironman website. The goal being to win the Janus prize which will contribute further funds to the Susan G. Komen foundation.

Stay tuned, there will be a pre-ironman debut of the bike at the Iowa Pigman Sprint. Please spread the word and Keep The Faith.
