Backstory

My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in the fall of 2008. It was caught early. Aggressive bilateral mastectomy was the choice. My concern was the lack of a cohesive focus to find a cure. I wanted a definitive course, I wanted strong leadership, I wanted to know the solution. So, I did what any normally crazy supportive co-survivor would do... enlisted for an ironman. Day off

Every now and then you need to stop and smell the roses. Spent the evening with Cameron. No workouts or time schedules. Just us, a bowl of edamame, two bowls of stir fry with tofu, and milk. Oh, and the backyardigans, wonder pets and wow-wow-wubzy.

Seeing the world thru a 3+ year olds eyes has got to rank up there with the pyramids and the louvre... maybe better... but since I haven't done either of the other we'll have to see. The joy in the simple things of life. The promise of what is to be. With a stuffed animal by their side and singing a theme song as if there is nothing else. Great stuff.

Rec'd a phone call from Andy... fellow triathlete who convinced me of this ironman in Florida. This weekend he biked 75 miles and ran 12 miles in preparation. I ran 8 miles Saturday then a brick of 30k and 10k on Sunday. Trying to get ready for my Sprint tri the first week of June.

Still have yet to touch water...

"and it don't get better then this"
