Backstory

My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in the fall of 2008. It was caught early. Aggressive bilateral mastectomy was the choice. My concern was the lack of a cohesive focus to find a cure. I wanted a definitive course, I wanted strong leadership, I wanted to know the solution. So, I did what any normally crazy supportive co-survivor would do... enlisted for an ironman. Wet Ride

Took a ride on Tuesday with a group that meets at College Green in Iowa City. Figured it would be a good chance to see how fit I am... put things in perspective. Hung around for about 25 miles, then slugged the rest of the way with a group of three. Flash flood rains, thunder and lightening, combined with dropping temperatures made it a long 55 miles. A short 3 hours later the house was in sight.

This got me thinking how far I've yet to go.
