Backstory

My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in the fall of 2008. It was caught early. Aggressive bilateral mastectomy was the choice. My concern was the lack of a cohesive focus to find a cure. I wanted a definitive course, I wanted strong leadership, I wanted to know the solution. So, I did what any normally crazy supportive co-survivor would do... enlisted for an ironman. "I'm not going to get it tonight"

You know that it is going to be a special evening when those are the words out of your wife's mouth. Of course the perspective changes when you realize that she is talking about our son's potty prior to bed (i.e. another type of training). Though, you have to admit that's a high quality attention getter.

Training is progressing well. 3hr15min yesterday on the bike @ 135 hr avg. It was into a miserable head-wind. Then a 66min run today @ 134 hr avg. No wind, felt very good. Both the correct plan for an ironman but not the plan for the sprint. It'll will be a fun slow Sunday next week.

Still haven't touched water. The pool re-opens on June 2nd, so I might be able to get in one swim.

The results of Lesly's ultrasound were negative. More to celebrate. Looking forward to the positive progress and making it one year. Her cancer meeting for her support group will be at our place tomorrow. It is good to see her involved, and her attitude has grown more positive as a result.

"I ain't here on business, I'm only here for fun"
