Rode for 2hrs yesterday with a group out of Iowa City. Very fast group, fell off the back, but well worth the effort. Finished up riding solo back to Iowa City. Probably will not ride with them much (pun intended)...
Took a different strategy of eating more frequently yesterday. Felt like I ate a lot of food... then after the ride I also ate 1/2 a footlong sandwich, bag of sun chips, a slice of pizza, a salad, and a plate of spaghetti. Woke up this AM at 189.7#.
Have a family picnic planned with Lesly's cancer group this month. Great group of people. It is amazing what a positive group is assembled for the support of each other. A little prayer for their well-being and continued motivation against their respective challenges. I will say that seeing what they are facing actually makes this Ironman seem like childs-play.
As a young Kawneer sales rep, I learned the concept of perspective quickly from a seasoned vetern who allowed me to shadow him on his sales call to a company which would later become my employer. He told me during that car ride that deciding to concession a project 5% to receive an order (which at that time required sign-off by multiple layers in the organization) was nothing compared to the decision to storm a particular hill in the country of Vietnam. Perspective indeed.
Continued thanks to all contributors to this cause. It is greatly appreciated and best wishes to all.

Backstory
My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in the fall of 2008. It was caught early. Aggressive bilateral mastectomy was the choice. My concern was the lack of a cohesive focus to find a cure. I wanted a definitive course, I wanted strong leadership, I wanted to know the solution. So, I did what any normally crazy supportive co-survivor would do... enlisted for an ironman.
